St. Lawrence O'Toole Theatre and Camp
The mission of the St. Lawrence O'Toole Theatre Department is to educate the youth of our community in theatre while at the same time come together as a society and grow as people. We want to be able to create an environment where children can create, play, discover and grow as actors, musicians, designers and people! We also strive to create a community where people can bond and learn to love the town they are in and the people they are working with. By raising money for future community projects and events, we are able to "theatrically" give back to the people and parish who have given so much to us, and of course have a blast doing it all summer long!

Our Theatre Program was founded in 2007, when Richie Grasso wanted to direct his own musical. He knew that working with the Parish would be a great idea to help raise money and get many people involved in doing good for the community. It has since grown into one of the few children's theatre opportunities in the area, occupying a performing space that has been unused for its real purpose.
In the summer of 2007, the staff put on "Annie Jr.", a one-hour version of the classic musical, in our Parish Hall. We had 65 kids involved along with many helping parents. In the summer of 2008, we produced "Willy Wonka Jr." and our numbers literally doubled as more than 120 kids and teens became involved, both on- and off-stage. We also initiated our Summer Theatre Day Camp, where the staff taught the campers singing, dancing, acting, and theatre crafts for themed sessions. We used a portion of the money earned from the production and camp enrollment to purchase a new door structure for the front of our facility. In the summer of 2009, we presented Lionel Bart's "OLIVER!". We raised enough money from our musical, Theatre Camp, and Parish Carnival to provide air conditioning for our Parish Hall facility through our MISSION: PRAYER FOR AIR 2009. The year following, the children performed Meredith Willson's "The Music Man," the last show directed by the founder of the program, Richie Grasso. The summer of 2011 was a rebuilding year, with new staffing and a goal to improve upon the children's innate talents. We performed Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," which surpassed our standards of excellence. As a result, we raised enough money to finish paying off the air conditioning system! Our most recent production, "Wizard of Oz", brought us many new faces and new talents. For the first time since the inception of the program, we sold out multiple performances, leading to a record-breaking ticket sales year.
What started as an idea has grown into a tradition in the St. Lawrence O’Toole community, truly living up to our motto, “Building a Community…The Theatre Way!”.
